NEW! Citrus Square Historical District

Earlier this month on October 2, 2024, the Department of Parks and Recreation Office of Historic Preservation placed the Citrus Square district in the National Register of Historic Places (National Register). It has also been listed in the California Register of Historical Resources as a result of being placed on the National Register.

A bit of Citrus Square history…

Citrus Square is an architecturally cohesive neighborhood of 782 properties, 512 of which were deemed “contributing” when surveyed. Only 64 votes were cast to oppose.

The neighborhood is roughly understood as bounded by Sycamore Avenue on the West, Citrus Avenue on the East, 3rd Street on the South, and Clinton on the North.

Today, this area is represented in the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council by Area 2/Citrus Square (south of Beverly Blvd.) and Area 8/Melrose (north of Beverly Blvd.)

The map is more commonly defined as the streets La Brea and Highland, North of 3rd to Rosewood.

See map and read more in the Beverly Free Press  and the Larchmont Chronicle.
